Instructions from 1st Timothy

I love finding scripture pertaining to women. It actually makes my heart flutter to read what God specifically designed me for. As I am reading in 1st Timothy this morning there are excellent instructions for members of the body of Christ and women in particular. The first six verses of chapter 2 hit me in light of the election year.

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men as the testimony given in proper time."

It is so important to me to remember to pray for the authority of this nation for the purpose that we may continue in our freedom to live peacefully and love God. We are so blessed to be Americans are we not?

Okay, now the verses that apply to women and members of the body of believers

"I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety,… with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God." 2:9-10

"(S)he must manage (her) own family well and see that (her) children obey (her) with proper respect." 3:4

"... keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience." 3:9

"…wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything." 3:11

Wow, that is some food for thought for today. I am so excited to spend the day meditating on these truths. God bless all.
