My Needs Are Always Met

Lately I have been going through some things that have made me feel downright icky about myself. I opened my bible to do my devotion just now and God met me there. It had been pressing on my heart just to open his word and I put it off for a few hours. I cleaned the house, did some dishes, took the kids to the park, all with the nagging feeling that I desperately NEEDED to get into the Word of God. Why did I put it off? I don't know… ? I guess I just don't like being blessed :P. Anyway, I know that not everyone would open up the same page in their bible and have God use the same verses to speak the same thing to them, but just maybe you could use this today too.

"My enemies say of me in malice,

'When will he die and his name perish?'

Whenever one comes to see me,

he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander;

then he goes out and spreads it abroad.

All my enemies whisper together against me;

they imagine the worst for me, saying,

'A vile disease has beset him;

he will never get up from the place where he lies.'

Even my close friend, whom I trusted,

he who shared my bread,

has lifted up his heel against me."

Psalm 41:5-9

---WOW—The devotional part of my bible says this:

Most of us at one time or another have felt like everyone is against us—like there is no one we can trust. It's a terrible feeling to sense that the people around us are two-faced, talking behind our backs, wishing the worst for us. The ultimate hurt is to be betrayed by someone we consider a true friend. In describing this painful experience in his life, David foreshadows what Jesus Christ will endure: slander and malice from enemies, betrayal by close friends (Jn 13:18-38). Like David, Jesus is deeply troubled and hurt by this, yet the Lord's gracious forgiveness extends even to those who betray him unto death. (Lk 23:33-34).

I was convicted and comforted at the same time. Especially since the rest of the chapter's verses are as follows:

"But you, O Lord, have mercy on me;

raise me up, that I may repay them.

I know that you are pleased with me,

for my enemy does not triumph over me.

In my integrity you uphold me

and set me in your presence forever.

Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,

from everlasting to everlasting.

Amen and Amen.

Psalm 41:10-13

--God is so loving to meet my needs and speak straight to my issues!!!! Is he asking you to open your Bible so he can speak to you today? I hope so, it might change your entire outlook!

Be blessed.

Photography

Like sewing I have found a new obsession. It seems like there are infinite possibilities when it comes to photography. If I change one setting on my camera it changes the story. I love how pictures can tell you something. Like this one of my kid telling me that he is confused as to why he is nekked outside and I am taking pictures of him. :P Gotta Love it.

He eventually decided he'd just have fun with it.

I really enjoy learning about every aspect of it. I'm still blundering my way around my camera, but I am coming along - slowly - and am really diggin' the experience.

If you are interested head over to my flickr (CLICK HERE) account and check out how much fun I am having. I would love to talk photography with anyone else who has a passion for it - I can not get enough new information and love learning how to improve from others.

Glorious Summer

It has been a LONG wait up here in the NW for summer. Jeez, I thought I would never see it, but alas it has arrived. Finally we can enjoy the treats of the season - BBQ's with friends, playing in the sprinkler and walks to the pond. Praise God for sunshine!

Today we made smores after dinner.

Landon seemed to like them.

I look forward to a couple of months with days like these!

(I hope I didn't jinx it)

Lost?

Do you ever feel lost? Maybe distant from God and unsure of why or what is causing it? I have found that those are the times that God is really trying to get through to me about something that I am either missing or purposefully ignoring and I find myself asking, how did I get here? How did I get myself lost (well, at least feeling that way) again?

Here is the answer God has given me.

I at times can get caught up in the greatness of what God has done and not what God is doing. What I mean is that I will live off a spiritual connection that I may have experienced a week ago or month ago or even just a day ago, and not be seeking God diligently in the moment by moment activities of everyday life. Have you ever done that? Have you ever felt content because of something that happened and allowed it to carry you for awhile? That is a dangerous place to be, at least for me. Satan wants me to feel content and be stagnant. If I am running my spiritual tank on the fumes of times past then I am eventually going to poop out and usually in the middle of situation where I feel lost because I have not sought direction from the Lord.

The bible says:

God will direct us

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8

We don't have to feel lost because God has a plan

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jer 29:11

But we have to choose to follow God to know his will

"If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own." John 7:17

Here is your hope for today.

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

You don't have to feel lost!

This Town Ain’t Big Enough For The Two of Us

Every day at high noon there is a standoff in my front yard. There is a squirrel that believes he owns the joint! He has eaten quite a lovely hole through the lid of my trash can and stands guard over it with no fear.

Even if he is just 8" tall I find him rather intimidating!

Father's Day

Today we went to Point Defiance Park, soaked up the sun, and enjoyed the scenery.

Being that it was Father's Day this was Jeff's choice of how to spend the day.

Marcus had never felt sand before and he really enjoyed it.

Jayelyn liked stepping into the COLD water, but for the most part

she just took it all in.

Landon - of course - had to throw rocks. He also got some new

marbles so those occupied him for a long time as well.

I was ecstatic to play with my camera and sit in the sun!!!!

It was a great day!

Mom Why Aren't You Paying Attention?

So I thought that while I was on the computer both of my children were sitting behind me watching a cartoon and having a snack. I turned around to find that Jayelyn had disappeared.

No worries, I located her giving herself a nice butter treatment. She is so soft now.

Better not take her into the sun for awhile, she might burn :P

Improvement

I like how this one has the parts he blew off in focus too.
It looks fisheyed, but that just his chubby face too close to my lense.
I love her whispy hairs

Commit to God

The Amplified Bible pictures us committing our load to God b y rolling it onto Him. It is helpful to note that we can roll something that is too heavy to carry or to cast.

What are we to commit – to trust – to God?

Ourselves. Psalm 22:8:

He trusts in the Lord;

let the Lord rescue him.

Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.

Our Burden. Psalm 55:22:

Cast your cares on the Lord

and he will sustain you;

he will never let the righteous fall.

Our Souls. 1 Peter 4:19

So the, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

Our Way. Psalm 37:5:

Commit your way to the Lord;

trust in him.

Our Cause. 1 Peter 2:23:

When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

Our Works. Proverbs 16:3:

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,

and your plans will succeed.
