For the child of God all things work together for good. This truth is reality because God is the Great Redeemer. He redeems all your past and uses it to conform you into the image of His Son. He is for you, not against you. And if He is for you, who can be against you? Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate you from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:28-39, selected verses).
God's love is an unconditional, everlasting, transforming love. A love demonstrated and received at Calvary. And it is at Calvary that you, Beloved of God, will find your Gilead--your city of refuge, your place of healing.
How like our "Americanized" Christianity! We have needed healing, but instead of running to our Father and asking Him what to do, we have turned to man's psychology, to man's philosophy, to our humanistic version of Christianity, or to our own understanding. Like the Israelites of old, we have turned from the wellspring of all of God's sufficiency to the cistern of mans reasoning.
